We are currently looking to recruit a safety advisor to support the Tungsten West team at Hemerdon Mine. The role will be reporting into the Health & Safety Manager. As an experienced Safety Advisor with a background in civil construction, you will actively drive the HSE culture on site while providing support and coordination of safety and environmental practices, systems, and procedures on the project.


Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Participate, provide professional H&S advice and support, and engage, influence and coach team members, stakeholders, and contractors to promote continual development and      improvement in the safety culture.

  • Facilitate, co-ordinate and conduct safety training/workshops, assessments and inductions for management and project team members.

  • Ensure risk/hazard registers are maintained for all facilities, that risks/hazards identified are communicated and plans are in place to minimise exposure to the workforce.

  • Facilitate a consistent approach to risk management ensuring workers are trained and using risk management tools.

  • Ensure effective communication and consultation processes regarding health and safety is provided throughout the business in a timely manner.

  • Facilitate the reporting and recording of all incidents, hazards and near misses.

  • Coordinate and lead incident investigations to determine causes and mitigating and preventative measures. Overseeing and managing the appropriateness and level of implementation of such measures; with ongoing monitoring of compliance.

  • Conduct regular HSE visits to all areas of responsibility interacting with the management team and workforce to determine suitability of processes, risk management, safety behaviours, field inspections and system inspections & audits.

  • Assist in the implementation, review and maintenance of the Tungsten West Business Management System (BMS) as it relates to HSE.

  • Develop processes, implement and monitor programs to provide a safe working environment for all personnel.

Skills & Experience

  • Must as a minimum have NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate or higher in Safety or related field

  • 3+ years in Safety roles in High Risk construction - Civil and Ground Work experience recommended.

  • Experience in undertaking safety & environmental inspections and other monitoring activities including the development of audit reports and close out of corrective actions.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience of workplace and contractor safety management processes within complex environments.

  • Well-developed understanding in the interpretation of CDM & Occupational Health and Safety legislation
