Join the Tungsten West Limited (TWL) team working on the mine re-start through being part of the team conducting beneficiation test work and undertaking a number of major modifications to the process plant at the Hemerdon Mine site.


You will be a graduate metallurgist or mineral processing engineer preferably with hands-on experience in the operation of metalliferous mineral processing plants. Preference will be given to potential candidates who have gained operating experience of dense medium separation, magnetic separation, fine gravity separation, roasting, hydrometallurgical, comminution and classification processes.


An understanding of mineral process design including engineering calculations; process control, instrumentation and metallurgical accounting; or sample preparation and assay procedures would be considered an advantage.


Key in this role is the requirement to:

  • Work as a professional, upholding the standards of best practice at all times

  • Work in a responsible and safe manner as a key member of the TWL team

  • Adopt a practical approach to the work and the ability to effectively supervise site jobs

  • Work in an organised and structured manner so as to meet deadlines and avoid mistakes

  • Supervise beneficiation test work programmes

  • Supervise process plant sampling and assay programmes

  • Understand how mineral processing equipment and the processes involved work

  • Understand mass, material and water balances

  • Understand PFD’s and P&ID diagram

  • Contribute to the process plant project team’s efforts

  • Have an operational understanding of instrumentation, process control and SCADA systems

  • Report on test work programmes, operational issues and process performance

  • Train operating staff to give them an understanding of mineral process principles & equipment 

  • Work collaboratively together with plant operations staff on shift

  • Assume process plant shift supervisory responsibilities if required

  • Proactively apply the company’s health and safety policies

  • Liaise with the broader TWL team and other relevant departments as required

  • Assist the Tungsten West team with other relevant work as required

We are seeking candidates eligible to work in the UK, with a relevant degree or qualifications and a UK (or equivalent) car driving licence. The successful candidate will be happy working in a dynamic, hardworking environment and integrating with and assisting the broader project team. Candidates should be computer literate, physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all weather. Previous experience working in the mining industry and membership of a professional association are highly desirable.
