Join Tungsten West Limited (TWL) in bringing the world class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin Mine back into commercial production. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic engineering geologist with a degree in a relevant technical discipline combined with operational experience, preferably in metalliferous mining or UK quarrying projects. Preference will be given to potential candidates who have knowledge of geotechnical and hydrogeological aspects of open pit operations along with stockpile and tailings facilities.
Key in this role is the requirement to:
Work as a professional, upholding the standards of best practice at all times
Work in a responsible and safe manner as a key member of the TWL team
Help develop and drive the mining efficiency of the Hemerdon deposit
Be a cornerstone member of the team to take the project from project to production
Drive a sustainable approach to mining in line with ESG best practice
Develop and take ownership of open pit geotechnical and hydrogeological work programmes and integrate these aspects to deliver the mine and processing plan
Liaise with third party contractors and drive best possible outcomes
Assist in the design and development of necessary civil and enabling works for the mine restart
Integrate the hydrogeological and pit dewatering aspects of the mine development within the broader site hydrological model
Assist in the development of an optimised mine waste facility design with key stakeholders
Support legal and environmental reporting obligations under ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO9001, Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management and Quarry Regulations
Establish and develop a range of best practice geotechnical and hydrogeological procedures for operations and champion and manage these aspects during production
Analyse and Interpret results and provide written reports as required
Liaising with and assisting the broader technical and operations team and other relevant departments as required
We are seeking candidates eligible to work in the UK, with a UK (or equivalent) car driving licence. The successful candidate will be happy working in a dynamic, hardworking environment and integrating with and assisting the broader project team. Candidates should be computer literate, have working knowledge of industry standard software packages, physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all weather. A degree in the fields of Geology, Mining/Geotechnical Engineering, or Hydrogeology and previous experience working in operational positions is considered essential, and membership of a professional association is highly desirable.
