Competitive salary, 6 month fixed contract position
Tungsten West Limited are seeking a Junior Geo-metallurgist to join our technical team here at Hemerdon tungsten-tin mine. The role will involve working with both the onsite laboratory and the geology and metallurgy teams in order to further develop the understanding of the world’s 3rd largest tungsten deposit.
Key in this role is the requirement to:
Work in a safe and professional manner, upholding the standards of best practice at all times.
Oversee laboratory work as well as assisting in sample prep & analysis.
Help develop and drive geo-metallurgical test-work programmes.
Help develop and drive the geological and metallurgical knowledge and understanding ofthe Hemerdon deposit.
More specifically the role will involve:
Assisting in the day-to-day running of the onsite laboratory operations, working alongside a dedicated lab technician.
Drive ongoing ore variability analysis test-work and collate and catalogue results in a diligent, accurate and efficient manner.
Analyse and Interpret results and provide written reports as required.
Help drive the geological understanding of the deposit through test-work findings.
Liaising with the geology and metallurgy teams, and other relevant departments asrequired.
Assisting the geology team with other relevant work as required.
Collating all data generated into a dedicated dataset.
Assist with sample storage and archiving.
Liaise with the Senior Geologist to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner.
We are seeking candidates with a UK (or equivalent) car driving licence. Candidates with a Geology or Metallurgy background/qualifications are recommended to apply and degree level qualifications in these subjects are highly regarded. Previous work experience in mining or laboratories will be looked at favourably though not essential. The successful candidate will be computer literate and able to start no later than 23rd June, 2021.
